Welcome to the 21st Century

Joe and I have always been a day late and a dollar short when it comes to new and improved technologies. Case in point, we still use the 19 inch TV that my parents bought me my sophomore year of college. We just aren’t that into having the latest and greatest in technology gadgets. The closest we’ve come is when 2 years ago I got a new cell phone and when we were at the store getting it activated two teenage girls completely freaked out because I had the “pink chocolate.” I didn’t know that my new phone was even named the “chocolate.” I got it simply because it was pink.

So after several years of being out of the loop, Joe and I broke down last night and bought an ipod. Yes, this is the first ipod for both of us. It started because I wanted to get a little CD player for Ella’s room. She loves music (as you all know) and has figured out how to turn the CD player on in Joe’s office. If you put her on the floor and say “music” Ella will crawl over to the CD player and start pushing the buttons for it to turn on. So we thought she’d like having her own player. Well, they didn’t have any basic CD players, so we decided that it was time to join the rest of the crowd and get an ipod. I really wanted a pink one, but I couldn’t do that to Joe. I could just imagine him at the gym working out with a hot pink ipod. So we got green instead. Last night I downloaded a bunch of Ella’s CD’s and we bought some music from iTunes. We even got the speakers to go with the ipod so that we can all listen together. Joe is definitely the most excited about this new purchase. I just hope he doesn’t bring up the new TV conversation again. I just can’t bring myself to get a new big screen TV when the 19 inch we have works perfectly fine. Just because everyone else has HD doesn’t mean we have to.

one word of advice on buying from itunes. you can only transfer those songs to, i think 5 computers on itunes, so make sure you burn them to a cd so you can take them with you regardless of the number of computers you go through. I learned this when I bought my new laptop a few months ago.

And, yes, you DO need the big tv. Baseball games are much better in HD :)

It is a good thing that you are getting a yard for your horse to graze in when it is not taking you to work. Come to the 21st Century and get a HD T.V., but don’t stop with just that. You should also let Joe get the Direct TV Football package.

I feel you girl - we haven't joined the GIANT HD TV club either. We are not the norm though - I had actually thought everyone else in the world had purchased a bigger than life TV but I am glad to know we are not alone.

Plus it's not like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is going to look any better on a huge tv!! Love ya!

I'm with ya KT. We haven't gotten an HD either and don't plan to any time soon. When you have kids (at least for me) those things just don't seem that important any more. In fact, we've even considered getting rid of cable all together. (Still haven't committed to that yet). We do have an Ipod though and I love it. Oh, and regarding the first comment. You can enable and disable Itunes on any computer at any time as long as you don't have it on more than five computers at a time. So far this hasn't been a problem for us and we've had several computers over the years. If you have any questions about it, let me know. Love you guys.

Don't listen to the naysayers, Joe. Never give up! Getting that HD TV is like running a marathon ... patience and discipline is all you need. I know you can do it. :) BTW ... I don't have one either.

Well, I dislike having to join the naysayers, but --
I would not like spending all that money to come home one day and find it gone! This 30+inch we got is fine with me and I don't think anyone will be wanting it but me - thank you Jesus!
Besides I believe Directv is getting enough of my monthly income right now.
